WACO, Texas (KWTX) – Baylor football legend, and former Heisman Trophy winner, Robert Griffin III has publicly expressed his support for the Bear’s head football coach Dave Aranda after the Sept. 21 loss to Colorado.
Griffin III took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to praise Aranda.
“I’m a fan of Dave Aranda the coach and how unique he is,” Griffin III wrote. “I’m a fan of Dave Aranda the man. He has been great to my family and been a phenomenal developer of men at Baylor.”
Griffin also stated that the current players of the Baylor football team adore the head coach, and that they are the determining factor of the team’s success during the season.
The only people who can turn this season into a success are the players in that locker room,” Griffin III stated. “The only ones who can get the fans to buy back in are the players in the locker room. It won’t be easy, but God gives his toughest battles to his strongest warriors.”
“Coach Dave Aranda is worth not giving up on,” Griffin III wrote. “Coach Dave Aranda is brilliant and a leader of men. DAVE ARANDA HAS MY FULL SUPPORT.”
Aranda was named the head football coach at Baylor on Jan. 16, 2020, replacing Matt Rhule, who had left to coach for the Carolina Panthers. Before becoming the head coach at Baylor, Aranda was the associate head coach and defensive coordinator at Louisiana State University, where he won a national championship.
Griffin III played at Baylor University from 2008-2011, where he was named the 76th winner of the Heisman Trophy. He went on to play nine seasons in the NFL before retiring in 2021.
