In a move that sent shockwaves through the softball world, ace pitcher Jordy Bahl announced she’s returning to Oklahoma for her final season after a one-year transfer stint at Nebraska. The 2023 National Player of the Year cited “unfinished business” and her deep bond with teammates Tiare Jennings and Kinzie Hansen as the biggest reasons behind her return. “This is family,” Bahl said during a packed press conference at Love’s Field. “And family always finds its way back home.” The Sooners, already a national powerhouse under coach Patty Gasso, immediately became favorites for another Women’s College World Series title. Jennings, who hit 26 home runs last season, and Hansen, the emotional leader behind the plate, both celebrated the news with tearful hugs and posts reading “The Queen is Back” across social media. Coach Gasso called Bahl’s return “a gift and a spark we didn’t expect but absolutely needed.” The Sooners will now feature an elite battery that many consider among the greatest ever assembled in NCAA softball. Fans lined up overnight for the upcoming spring series tickets, chanting Bahl’s name. “I didn’t leave because I stopped loving this place,” Bahl said. “I came back because I never stopped.”
