The Florida Gators have two commitments from the 2026 class and are trying to make it three with cornerback Chauncey Kennon.
On3’s Hayes Fawcett reported Tuesday that Florida made Kennon’s top 6. The Oregon Ducks, LSU Tigers, Georgia Bulldogs, Miami Hurricanes and Florida State Seminoles were also featured.
The Gators had three commitments from the 2026 class until April 17, when safety Devin Jackson opted to reopen his recruitment and decommit from the program.
Kennon is listed at 6-foot-1.5 inches and weighs 170 pounds. He is from Sarasota, Florida, and attends Booker High School.
He also holds offers from schools like the Penn State Nittany Lions, Auburn Tigers and Ole Miss Rebels.
Kennon is a four-star prospect and the No. 10 linebacker in the On3 Industry Rankings.
Florida is the last team Kennon has visited, taking a trip to Gainesville for an unofficial visit on Friday. He has future visits lined up with Auburn (May 16), Miami (May 31) and Florida State (June 13).
The Gators’ two commits from the 2026 class are four-star linebacker Izayia Williams and four-star quarterback Will Griffin.
Florida head coach Billy Napier just had his best season yet in Gainesville, leading the program to an 8-5 record. Napier was hired by Florida in 2022 and had never had a winning season until last season.
The 2024 campaign ended with a 33-8 win over Tulane in the Gasparilla Bowl.
Florida carries a lot of momentum into the 2025 season, especially with the return of quarterback DJ Lagway, who is the expected starter under center.
The Gators open the 2025 season with Long Island on Aug. 30.
