The Duke Blue Devils reached the NCAA Tournament Final Four, only to fall one possession short against the Houston Cougars.
Following the season, it has been a domino effect of players leaving the program.
Most of the departures have been related to the NBA Draft, which Jon Scheyer expected given the amount of talent on the team. One of the returnees made an announcement this week that should bolster the roster for next season.
After Darren Harris announced that he would return to Duke for his second season with the Blue Devils, guard Tyrese Proctor sent a two-word message to his teammate.
Proctor responded: “That time.”
Proctor appears to indicate that the former four-star recruit will now be the go-to guy for the Blue Devils in the 2025–2026 season.
Harris, a 6-foot-6 forward from Fairfax, Virginia, has the ability to shoot the basketball from deep range.
In his lone season at Duke, Harris played in 21 games, averaging just six minutes per game while scoring two points per contest. His final appearance came in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
As for Proctor, after a season in which he averaged 12.4 points per game while shooting 45.2% from the field, he is now testing the NBA Draft waters. Proctor was a major catalyst in Duke’s ACC Tournament victory—their second in three seasons—and their run to the NCAA Final Four.
Scheyer will be starting his fourth season at the helm of the Blue Devils. He sports an overall record of 89-22 at Duke. In ACC play, he is 48-12. Scheyer has guided the Blue Devils to the NCAA Tournament in each of his three seasons.
