Mizzou wide receiver Luther Burden III isn’t just catching touchdowns—he’s catching headlines. Just days after announcing his return for another season, Burden made an even bigger splash: purchasing Elon Musk’s iconic $700 million superyacht. But it’s what he’s planning to do with the futuristic vessel that has Missouri fans lighting up the internet.
According to Burden’s PR team, the yacht—now renamed “Show Me Sundays”—will serve as a floating media and wellness complex for student-athletes. Complete with a performance studio, NIL content production suites, and hydro-recovery systems, the yacht is being docked seasonally near the Lake of the Ozarks. “I want to help athletes own their stories,” Burden said in an interview. “We’ve worked hard to get to this level, and now it’s time to build legacy.”
Elon Musk himself confirmed the deal on X, noting that Burden paid in a combination of cryptocurrency and stock options. “I’m glad it’s in the hands of a young visionary,” Musk posted. Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz joked, “Well, as long as he’s not taking it to road games.”
From NIL juggernaut to off-field mogul, Luther Burden is proving that the Mizzou brand travels well—on land or water.
