The Ohio State Buckeyes weren’t initially in the top eight schools for one of the more versatile prospects in the 2026 recruiting class.
Two-way star Danny Odem announced his top eight on Wednesday. But a day later, a Buckeyes offer convinced Odem to seriously consider Ohio State.
“The top eight just turned into a top nine,” Odem told Rivals’ John Garcia Jr.
“They’re the national champions. Their brand is B.I.A., best in America, so you have to be one of them to even get that offer. That felt great.”
With the Buckeyes offer, Odem is also changing his official visits schedule.
“I’m going to Penn State May 30, Oklahoma June 6 and I think I’m going to Ohio State June 13,” Odem told Garcia. “Auburn before that, on the 10th. Then finishing it off with Nebraska (June 20).”
Odem plays offense and defense in high school. Most college football recruiting rankings consider the prospect a cornerback.
According to the 247 Sports composite rankings, Odem is a three-star recruit. However, the ratings from 247 Sports and On3 consider Odem a four-star prospect.
Before placing the Buckeyes in his top nine, Odem told On3 this week that the Oklahoma Sooners, Miami Hurricanes, Georgia Bulldogs, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Syracuse Orange, Clemson Tigers, Penn State Nittany Lions and Florida Gators were his top eight.
The On3 industry rating has Odem ranked as a top 350 overall recruit in the 2026 class. The same rankings have him as the No. 29 cornerback and inside the top 50 in Florida.
The 247 Sports composite rankings haveOdem as the No. 33 cornerback and a top 450 prospect overall in the class.
