Alex Foster, an 18-year-old college athlete, passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2025. Baylor Bears (Baylor University) confirmed their defensive lineman’s death in a joint statement from football head coach Dave Aranda and VP/director of athletics at the university, Mack B. Rhoades, IV.

Foster was a redshirt freshman last year and sat out during his first year at Baylor University. The six-foot-five college athlete, who weighed 292 pounds, was fatally shot during the early hours of May 28, the Clarion Ledger reported. According to the Mississippi-based newspaper, the Washington County Coroner’s Office revealed that Alex Foster died after an alleged shooting incident in Greenville.
Per the Clarion Ledger, the Greenville Police Department responded to a call about shots being fired at 1800 E Alexander St. The authorities received the call around 12:11 am on Tuesday, after which they found Alex Foster in a car. The college athlete was shot multiple times and was rushed to Delta Health Center, according to the Clarion Ledger. Foster died 35 minutes after reaching the hospital.
