Wisconsin’s Logan Hensler has impressive NHL Draft Combine with 3 top 25 finishes
The Wisconsin Badgers are looking to have another first-round pick in the NHL Draft this season with Logan Hensler. This would be the second time in three years that a first-round selection has come out of Wisconsin. The odds for that to happen have gone up as Hensler had an impressive NHL Draft Combine performance, with multiple top-25 finishes in testing and drills.
The NHL Combine invites the 90 best prospects and tests them in 12 different things (14 if you count that there’s a left-hand and right-hand grip test and a left and right pro agility test). They only post the 25 best results from each category. Hensler finished in the top 25 in bench, vertical jump (no arm), and anaerobic fitness (fatigue index).

Out of the 90 prospects competing, only 68 were able to place in the top 25 in any category. 62 were able to make it in the list twice, and 48 made it three times (like Hensler). However, like the NFL Combine, it’s not just about these results; the skills will need to verify the strength and other categories tested. There are always players who perform well in the combine but struggle on the ice in comparison to players who maybe weren’t as impressive in the combine.
In the bench press (50% of body weight), Hensler recorded 6.74 reps, which placed him 17th. For the “Force Plate: No Arm Jump,” Hensler posted 18.11 inches, which was good for 22nd. Finally, in the anaerobic fitness (fatigue index), which measures how quickly you tire out, Hensler scored 45.2, which was good for 14th.
