MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin men’s track and field team heads west with seven student-athletes back to Eugene, Oregon to compete at the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The University of Oregon will host the event from June 11-14 at Hayward Field.
Fans can watch the action on the track on Wednesday and Thursday on ESPN while coverage shifts on Friday and Saturday to ESPN2. All track and field events can be seen online through ESPN+.
1. STELLAR SEVEN: The Badgers are sending seven standout athletes to the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Championships, the program’s largest group since 2013. Representing the Cardinal and White will be Jalen Williamsin the 400 meters, Andrew Casey and Patrick Hilby in the 800 meters, Adam Spencer in the 1500 meters, Jason Swarens and Joseph White in the shot put and Cole Hooperin the hammer throw.
2. SPENCER EYES NCAA CROWN: A 2024 Olympian for Australia, Spencer returns to the NCAA stage aiming for his first individual outdoor title after tallying runner-up finishes at both the 2024 NCAA indoor and outdoor championships. The senior, who clocked 3:46.78 to advance out of regional, will run the 1500 meter semifinals on Wednesday, June 11, at 6:21 p.m. CT. The Melbourne, Australia native currently holds the eighth-fastest time in the NCAA this year.
3. SCHOOL RECORD SPRINTS: Williams has been electric all season, setting the school record in the 400 meters with a time of 45.49 and finishing as the 2024 Big Ten runner-up. The junior punched his ticket to Eugene with a time of 45.78 in the quarterfinals, placing third in his heat and eighth overall. The Washington, D.C. native will race in the NCAA semifinal round on June 11 at 7:41 p.m. CT.
4. EXCEPTIONAL 800: Sophomore Casey and freshman Hilby each ran personal bests of 1:47.30 at the NCAA West First Round to qualify for the national meet. The duo now ranks seventh in program history with their mark. Casey returns to the NCAA Outdoor Championships for the second time, while Hilby makes his debut. Both will race in the 800 meters semifinals on June 11 at 7:58 p.m. CT.
5. THRILLING THROWS: The Badgers boast a formidable field presence with three throwers qualifying. Hooper, competing in his final collegiate meet, opens action on June 11 at 3:30 p.m. CT in the hammer throw. This will be his first appearance at the NCAA Championships. The Cumberland, Rhode Island native ranks fifth in school history with a mark of 216 (66.12m). In the shot put, teammates Swarens and White will compete at 8:10 p.m. CT. Swarens currently ranks No. 1 in the NCAA with a school record throw of 70-1 ½ (21.37m). The dynamic duo will round out a jam-packed day of competition for Wisconsin.
