OU softball pitcher Sophia Bordi no longer with Sooners due to ‘personal situation’
NORMAN — OU softball coach Patty Gasso said Tuesday that pitcher Sophia Bordi, who reclassified to the 2025 class in order to join the Sooners, did not finish the season with the team.
Bordi went home due to a “personal situation,” Gasso said.
A right-handed pitcher from Haddon Heights, New Jersey, Bordi was slated to spend the 2025 season throwing against the Sooners‘ hitters, picking pitching coach Jennifer Rocha’s brain, working with the program’s strength coaches and experiencing the day-to-day grind while redshirting.
“She’s not here on campus,” Gasso said Tuesday. “She went back home, and that’s something that I don’t have the privilege to talk about. It’s more of a personal situation. So, she did not finish the season out with us.”

Bordi was the No. 5 high school softball pitcher in the class of 2025 per Softball America before she reclassified. She is also a two-time Gatorade New Jersey Player of the Year and led Haddon Heights High School to two state titles and earned tournament MVP honors.
