DETROIT — Detroit Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said he expects to retain his entire coaching staff in 2025.
The Tigers went 31-11 after Aug. 10 to clinch the franchise’s 17th playoff appearance and went on to sweep the Houston Astros on the road in the Wild Card Series. They were eliminated Saturday by the Cleveland Guardians in the Division Series.
I want to recognize the work of our coaches — tireless and incredible work,” Hinch said Monday in the end-of-season press conference. “I love when players talk about our coaches with such high regard because it goes beyond hitting, pitching, fielding, or baserunning. It includes our training staff, strength staff, nutrition staff, clubhouse staff. We have a really good group.
I’d love to have everyone back. This is the most cohesive group I’ve had since I’ve been in Detroit. Of course, this is the time of year when other organizations might try to poach your talent, but I expect everyone back in full, building off the processes we created this year.”
Here’s the Tigers’ current coaching roster:
Manager – A.J. Hinch
Bench Coach – George Lombard
Pitching Coach – Chris Fetter
Assistant Pitching Coach – Robin Lund
Assistant Pitching Coach – Juan Nieves
Hitting Coach – Keith Beauregard
Hitting Coach – Michael Brdar
Assistant Hitting Coach – Lance Zawadzki
Major League Coach – Gary Jones
First Base Coach – Anthony Iapoce
Third Base Coach – Joey Cora
Catching Coach – Ryan Sienko
Hinch, who agreed to an undisclosed contract extension after the 2023 season, is entering his fifth year as Tigers’ manager. Three coaches have been with him since the beginning of his tenure: Lombard, Fetter and Nieves.
