The Indiana Pacers acquired Jay Huff from the Memphis Grizzlies for one second-round pick and a second-round pick swap, sources told ESPN’s Shams Charania.
Huff averaged 6.9 points and two rebounds across a career-high 64 appearances last season. The 7-foot-1 center made strides as a floor-spacing threat, knocking down 40.5% of his attempts from downtown.
Indiana needed to replenish its center depth after losing longtime starter Myles Turner to the Milwaukee Bucks in free agency. Fellow big man Thomas Bryant also hit the market following the previous campaign.
Memphis subsequently agreed to a deal with free-agent center Jock Landale, adds Charania.
The Houston Rockets recently waived Landale midway through a four-year, $32-million contract.
The Aussie big man averaged 4.8 points and 3.2 boards across 98 appearances with the Rockets.
Landale could compete for early minutes at the five after both Jaren Jackson Jr. and Zach Edey suffered injuries during the offseason.
