You lost to Slovakia!’ – Julian Nagelsmann’s Leroy Sane comments draw angry response from Galatasaray boss despite Turkish side’s Champions League humiliation against Eintracht Frankfurt
Galatasaray boss Okan Buruk has fired back at Germany national coach Julian Nagelsmann over his comments about Leroy Sane. The national team boss has said Sane will have to perform beyond his usual expectations to make the squad after he joined the Turkish giants from Bayern Munich. Buruk, though, pointed to the recent loss to Slovakia as proof Germany aren’t as good as Nagelsmann believes.
Nagelsmann questions Sane’s level
Nagelsmann stirred controversy when assessing Sane’s decision to leave the Bundesliga champions in order to start his Super Lig adventure, with the Germany coach suggesting the winger’s international career is over due to the level he is playing at.
“He’s now playing in a league that’s a bit worse than the Bundesliga and other top European leagues,” Nagelsmann told reporters. He acknowledged Sane’s assist and goal in recent games but added, “He simply has to deliver more… I’m expecting certain numbers from him.”
