CHICAGO (WLS) — Chicago Bears great Steve McMichael is improving after contracting a staph infection at a suburban hospital, and his family hopes he returns home early this week, his wife said Sunday in a statement. The 66-year-old McMichael, who went public with an ALS diagnosis three years ago, has been hospitalized since Thursday. His family hopes to have him home on Tuesday, wife Misty McMichael said. Meanwhile, it was a packed house on Sunday at PB&J in Fulton Market with first responders battling in a cook-off for the Fifth Annual Recipe Challenge. The event raises money for families…
Should Lions trade up for J.J. McCarthy? Christian Booher: I am admittedly high on JJ McCarthy, but I’m not sure that the Lions should be making a move to go get a quarterback. Additionally, I don’t see Brad Holmes changing his tone after giving Jared Goff relentless support over the last three seasons. I like McCarthy’s winning pedigree and believe that his athletic ability will make him a highly-coveted commodity in the draft. He would fit the Lions’ offensive scheme, but I think the organization is currently set at the position and shouldn’t make a move to get…
Could Brad Holmes end up not giving Jared Goff an extension? Booher: I do believe there is a way that Goff could not get an extension, but the chances of that happening are very slim. He has endeared himself to the city of Detroit and played at a high level, so the Lions shouldn’t consider rolling the dice on a young quarterback when they have the pieces in place to make a Super Bowl run. The one way I could see Goff not getting extended is if the two parties don’t agree on compensation. Holmes plays his…
The Baltimore Ravens have a ton of pending free agents to address when the new league year starts March 13, one of which is star wideout Odell Beckham Jr. Will the Ravens re-sign Beckham after a $16 million payday last year that seems like a terrible overpayment? Or will they attempt to replace him through the draft or free agency? Bleacher Report threw out the possibility that another free agent could replace OBJ in Baltimore, and he just played in the NFC Championship game this past season. Former Texas A&M Aggies wideout Josh Reynolds is one of the more…
The Pittsburgh Steelers could be one of the NFL’s most interesting teams to watch throughout the 2024 offseason. It seems the questions about what’s to come for the organization at quarterback will be inescapable until the day they officially announce their 2024 starter. That is also far from the only position the team needs to address during the offseason. They have major needs on both sides of the ball and could make improving those their focus instead of a new quarterback. In fact, it seems there’s at least a chance that they could decide to address a…
Kevin Durant, now in his 17th NBA season and making his 14th career NBA All-Star appearance tonight, was posed with an interesting question during yesterday’s All-Star media availability. Durant was asked by ESPN’s Tim Bontemps with him, LeBron James and Stephen Curry being the faces of the NBA for almost a decade now if he sees any obvious candidates from this younger generation who will “take on the mantle from you guys when you’re eventually done playing. think each era has five, six, seven guys that help carry the game forward, push the game forward,” Durant responded. “More than…
New York Knicks All-Star point guard Jalen Brunson led an upheaval on social media against the highly criticized judging of the 2024 NBA Slam Dunk competition on February 17 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. Brunson was miffed after his rookie teammate Jacob Toppin was “robbed” of entering the finals against eventual back-to-back champion Mac McClung of the Orlando Magic’s G League team. “I guess Jacob needed to jump over the shot clock to get higher than 46,” Brunson posted on X, formerly Twitter, following Toppin’s failed bid to enter the finals Toppin’s second dunk — a 360-degree,…
Eight-Time Pro Bowl Defensive Back Patrick Peterson Recently Discussed The Rumor That The Pittsburgh Steelers Could Release Him. Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Patrick Peterson is one of the most decorated active players in the NFL, but that doesn’t mean his current team won’t release him. Pittsburgh has already begun the process of moving on from expensive veterans, and there is a chance Peterson is the next man on the list. Originally signed to a two-year deal prior to the start of the 2023 season, the eight-time Pro Bowler had a solid first year with the Steelers. While he’s nowhere close…
Baltimore Ravens’ newly-hired defensive coordinator Zach Orr will be one of the youngest play-callers in the NFL next season. At just 31 years old, Orr takes over a Ravens defense that set NFL records by being the first team ever to lead the league in points allowed, takeaways, and While the pressure will certainly be on Orr to continue the success that former coordinator Mike Macdonald had, the Ravens need to do right by their new play-caller and set him up for success. Setting a coach up for success is not something you usually hear in NFL circles. Usually, it’s…
It was a great trade deadline and we expect the defense to get better as a result. Improving isn’t easy, no matter what you’re attempting to accomplish. When you speak in the context of roster improvement in the NBA, with millions of dollars at play and a complex salary and luxury tax structure, it is challenging. You seek the ultimate balance, combining talent with chemistry, and ability with scheme. James Jones and the Phoenix Suns, who were buyers at the trade deadline, had to operate within the second apron restrictions while trying to improve a roster that needed assistance. The…
