The NY Jets are expected to explore a number of avenues to add some wide receiver help this offseason, but one recent trade proposal from a former NFL general manager probably wouldn’t be the wisest approach. Former Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum appeared on ESPN’s “Get Up” on Friday and proposed an outside-the-box trade idea involving the Jets and Dallas Cowboys. Tannenbaum suggested the Jets could swap star linebacker C.J. Mosley for Cowboys wide receiver Brandin Cooks in a one-for-one trade. The suggestion caught the rest of the panel by surprise, including former Jets linebacker Bart Scott, who…
The Detroit Lions could lose both starting offensive guards in free agency this offseason. But fortunately, there likely will be a lot of quality guards available to sign. Pro Football Focus’ Brad Spielberger named the Lions a potential landing spot for veteran right guard Kevin Zeitler. He will turn 34 in March, but Zeitler is coming off another elite season in which he earned his first Pro Bowl nomination. “Zeitler was looking for an extension from the Ravens before the season, but it never came to pass,” Spielberger wrote. “Baltimore has so many key free-agent decisions that perhaps…
Connie Watt is the proud mother of JJ Watt, defensive end for the Houston Texans and 3-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year; Derek Watt, fullback for the Los Angeles Chargers; and TJ Watt, outside linebacker for the Pittsburgh Steelers. https://jjwfoundation.org › board-of… Board of Directors – JJ Watt Foundation Connie Watt stepped into the limelight with her son JJ Watt’s selection in the NFL. However, JJ hasn’t been the sole reason for her fame since her other two sons, Derek and TJ Watt, also are successful in their respective NFL careers. Yes, indeed. Connie is the mother who…
The Michigan Wolverines haven’t lost many players since Jim Harbaugh left for the NFL. Sherrone Moore was hired, and the team mostly stayed intact. A few fringe players decided to leave, but the NFL Draft has taken more talent than the transfer portal. However, they could not stay immune forever. Defensive back Keon Sabb announced he is entering the transfer portal. The former four-star recruit played in all 14 games this season for the Wolverines. For a reserve player, his stats were solid. He had 28 tackles, two interceptions, four pass breakups, and six passes defended. His decision likely stems…
With Super Bowl LVIII past the NFL, teams like the Pittsburgh Steelers have begun to turn their attention to the highly-anticipated 2024 NFL Draft. The Steelers were able to beat the odds and make the postseason though they lost in the Wild Card Round to the Buffalo Bills. However, Pittsburgh proved once again that they’re capable of winning games in a multitude of ways. The upcoming draft is an important one for the Steelers as they have several needs on the roster they need to fill. The jury is still out on Kenny Pickett who has been…
The Lions haven’t had a true WR-X in almost three seasons, and Thomas would be a plug-and-play starter at that spot. Stylistically he would fit in beautifully and would immediately upgrade the Lions’ top-five offense even further. But would general manager Brad Holmes spend a first-round pick on an offensive skill player for the third year in a row? I’ve learned my lesson and am not ruling anything out. Offensive linemen None Erik’s Thoughts: It’s a bit surprising to not see an offensive lineman linked to the Lions this week—especially with both starting guard’s contracts expiring—but I attribute…
The NBA All-Star break is here, but the search for roster upgrades isn’t over for the Phoenix Suns yet. With one open roster spot remaining, there are several Suns buyout targets for the front office to consider. Following the trade deadline move that shipped out Keita Bates-Diop, Yuta Watanabe, Chimezie Metu and Jordan Goodwin in a three-team deal for Royce O’Neale and David Roddy, Phoenix had two open roster spots. They reportedly filled one of those by agreeing to a deal with Thaddeus Young, which is expected to be finalized early next week. minutes at the start of second…
Delon Wright as per this article here with the Washington Post, will sign with the Miami Heat. The signing will happen after he is bought out of his existing contract with the Washington Wizards. Wright will be an off-ball threat, able to organize an offense and a disrupt on defense. In the aftermath of the injury to Terry Rozier, this kind of player is sorely needed. With all the ball handlers on the Heat (Herro, Butler, Adebayo, Rozier, Jovic), the offense has bogged down for scoring. Wright fact #3 — He gets the offense organized. Look at this article…
How can Pittsburgh afford Madubuike? If they release Heyward they could save $16 million against the 2024 cap, which might be enough to sign Madubuike. All of this to say that if the Steelers part ways with Heyward, it might be one of the dumbest things they’ve done as an organization in a while. He just won the Walter Payton Man of the Year award and is a staple in the Pittsburgh metropolitan area.
Last season, Madubuike registered a career-high 13 sacks, 12 tackles for loss and 33 quarterback hits while forcing one fumble and totaling 56 tackles. He also was named second-team All-Pro. Not only were those career highs for Madubuike, but his sack total more than tripled his combined total from the previous three seasons. AtoZ Sports thinks that’s a possibility, and that Madubuike would be a good option to replace Cameron Heyward, who could be a salary cap casualty. “With some salary cap gymnastics and a new deal for Heyward that stretches his 2024 salary out or converts it to a…
