The Dallas Mavericks just made a run to the NBA Finals, and now they’re already looking at how they can improve to not just return to the Finals but win it all this time around. Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving will continue to lead the way for the Mavs moving forward, but they could use a bit more help after getting overwhelmed by the Boston Celtics. Could Jerami Grant be a trade option this offseason? SNY’s Ian Begley reports Dallas as one of “several teams” that have “checked in on Grant’s situation in Portland.” Grant just finished up his second…
Cowboys’ contract conundrum is only just beginning as other players will soon need new deals
We’ve talked all offseason, and even going back to last year, about the new contracts due to QB Dak Prescott, LB Micah Parsons, and WR CeeDee Lamb. While we’re still waiting for just one of these to get resolved, it’s hard not to look down the pike and see the next wave of Dallas Cowboys nearing the end of their rookie contracts. Sure, Prescott’s future is the key here no matter who else you talk about. Playing the most important and expensive position in football, Prescott’s money will be a major factor in what Dallas is able to do with…
The Los Angeles Lakers are likely to announce the hiring of JJ Redick as theirnew head coach any day now, and Redick is reportedly hard at work building an assistant coaching staff. Among the names discussed for a Lakers assistant role has been longtime former NBA Sam Cassell, who just won an NBA Championship as an assistant for the Boston Celtics. But while the Lakers’ interest in Cassell has been widely reported, it appears the Celtics are doing what they can to retain the coveted coach. According to NBA insider Marc Stein, Boston may be planning to “elevate” Cassell to…
CINCINNATI (AP) — Connor Wong and Rob Refsnyder each hit two-run homers as the Boston Red Sox took the series from the Cincinnati Redswith a 7-4 victory on Sunday. The Red Sox have won seven of eight and are now a season-best six games over .500. We finished the trip the right way,” Red Sox manager Alex Cora sad. “We played well. There was a lot of energy. Great team performance.” Jarren Duran led off for Boston and went 3 for 5 with a double and two RBIs. Reds manager David Bell was ejected in the fourth inning by home…
The St. Louis Cardinals have won 8 of their last 11 games, pushing them back over .500 for the year. They’ve also emerged as more obvious buyers with the trade deadline a little more than a month away. Despite their hot streak, St. Louis still has some holes to fill, and they could address two needs at once in a trade with the Chicago White Sox. Bleacher Report’s Kerry Miller published a piece on Sunday, June 23 that tries to gauge whether teams will buy or sell at the deadline. He projects the Cardinals as “relatively aggressive buyers,” naming the…
SUNRISE, Fla Connor McDavid admired and looked up to Sidney Crosby as the kind of player he wanted to become one day. But when McDavid was pretending as a kid to score the goal to win the Stanley Cup, he always imagined himself being in that position. “You’re not sure you’re ever going to get that opportunity,” McDavid said. “Here we are with that opportunity.” That opportunity is only possible after McDavid led the Edmonton Oilers back from a 3-0 deficit in the final to set up Game 7 against the Florida Panthers on Monday night with hockey’s hallowed trophy…
How Tennessee baseball grew into a juggernaut in the eyes of Tony Vitello’s first commit in
OMAHA, Neb. — Jake Rucker had a voicemail from an unknown Arkansas number. Rucker settled onto the Team Tennessee bus following a game in the Sunbelt Classic in McAlester, Oklahoma, in June 2017. He clicked the curious notification and listened to the voicemail. The caller identified themself and Rucker freaked out. It was Tony Vitello, the freshly hired Tennessee baseball coach. Vitello wanted Rucker to join him in Knoxville. When Tony called me, it was a dream come true,” Rucker said Thursday. “I didn’t think that was going to happen to me.” TICKETS:Tennessee baseball tickets in College World Series: Best…
OMAHA, Nebraska (KBTX) – Texas A&M and Tennessee baseball square off in the Men’s College World Series Finals with both programs going for their first national championships. The Aggies and Vols cruised through their brackets in Omaha both going 3-0. Tennessee showed off its powerful lineup putting up a combined 25 runs in those three games. Texas A&M has gotten to this point thanks to a strong pitching staff, only giving up 3 runs so far in Omaha. While the pitching and offensive lineup is intriguing, the head coaching matchup is just as interesting. Tennessee head coach Tony Vitello was…
Tim “TJ” Hicks loved coaching in the Matt Leinart Flag Football League. The West Virginia native, a big Pittsburgh Steelers fan, would typically spend all Friday night at the field. If he wasn’t guiding his own team, he would be scouting others. Hicks died doing when he loved. He suffered a heart attack at Jack Hammett Sports Complex in Costa Mesa while coaching a girls’ team on Nov. 17, and passed away soon after. He was 56 years old and left behind his wife Cindy and two sons, Jackson and Sam.
Last night was oh so close to being magical. The Yankees went down early on against the Braves, giving the Orioles a nice chance of re-taking the AL East lead. Meanwhile in Houston, the O’s snagged a 3-2 lead in the top of the fifth inning, had already gotten into the Astros’ bullpen, and still had Grayson Rodriguez on the mound. Things were lining up well! But then, disaster struck. Rodriguez surrendered a three-run homer in the bottom of the fifth, Jacob Webb and Dillon Tate were putrid in relief, and the Orioles lost. You cannot blame the offense though.…
