Barcelona may face a harsh UEFA fine due to suspected financial rule violations in previous seasons.
Due to their alleged inability to reconcile their expenses and profits in accordance with UEFA financial regulations, the Catalan powerhouses have reportedly been threatened with punishment.
In September of last year, Barcelona declared a net profit of €304 million after deducting expenses, after pulling out all the stops to try and stabilise a rapidly deteriorating situation.
After increasing their revenue through sponsorships and the sale of broadcast rights, Barcelona is hoping to avoid penalty, although there is still a deficit.
Barcelona is still trying to make it in time for UEFA’s final total, which can only include sales that are directly related to football.
Barcelona might face a heavy fine and a Champions League ban if UEFA does not grant them an exemption, according to a report from the German publication Die Welt.
According to the study, Barcelona might be kicked out of Europe’s top club competition for two or three seasons, beginning in 2024–2025.
