Coach Mike Tomlin encouraged doubters to “have at it,” but he declared himself “comfortable” with the controversial play decisions made by the Pittsburgh Steelers in their AFC playoff loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.
“Go for it,” Tomlin said to a barrage of inquiries about his coaching choices at his post-game news conference. “I feel at ease with the call that we had. We didn’t carry it out. I’m not talking about the options.
The play calls featured two botched fourth down attempts by the Pittsburgh offense and an onside kick in the final moments of play that set up the game-winning field goal that gave the Jaguars a 45-42 victory. The Steelers’ season came to an end as the Jaguars’ victory sent them to New England to play the Patriots in the AFC title game on Sunday.
