Perhaps the most important game of Sam Hartman’s collegiate football career was his fifth game starting for Notre Dame as the quarterback.
On Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET, No. 9 Notre Dame takes on No. 6 Ohio State. Both teams are unbeaten going into the game, and the winner will have a memorable win on their College Football Playoff record. Over 80,000 spectators are anticipated to fill the stands, and the game will be broadcast nationally on NBC. ESPN’s College GameDay pregame show will also be live from the stadium.
This week, Hartman told reporters, “I think it’s a huge opportunity for us as a program and as a team to go out there and show what we’ve got.” “Obviously, historically, a very difficult opponent. A fantastic football program, a formidable opponent… Ohio State and all the other big games are ones that you kind of think about and watch growing up, and you’re like, ‘That would be a nice game to play in.’ It’s exciting.”
For the 2023 college football season, Notre Dame is off to a 4-0 start. In his debut season with the Fighting Irish, Hartman has thrown for 1,061 yards, 13 touchdowns, and no interceptions.
