PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers hosted two quarterbacks just ahead of their Week 17 matchup with the Seattle Seahawks, according to the NFL’s transaction wire. The team brought in Adrian Martinez and Matthew McKay to work out for them, likely viewing both as potential options in the future. With Kenny Pickett, Mitch Trubisky and Mason Rudolph on the active roster, and Trace McSorley on the practice squad, the Steelers could view both tryouts as candidates for futures contracts in the offseason. Martinez signed with the Detroit Lions after the 2023 NFL Draft but only spent a short period of time with them. He recently signed with the Birmingham Stallions of the USFL. In college, Martinez played for Nebraska and Kansas State, throwing for 9,331 passing yards, 49 touchdowns, to 30 interceptions and adding 2,847 rushing yards and 44 touchdowns to his college total. McKay played for three schools during his time in college, starting at NC State before transferring to Montana State and eventually Elon. As an undrafted free agent out of the 2023 NFL Draft, he received a rookie minicamp tryout with the Dallas Cowboys. He recently signed with the San Antonio Brahams.
