The Phoenix Suns will be without Kevin Durant, their leading scorer, tonight against the Portland Trail Blazers.
A couple hours before tipoff, head coach Frank Vogel spoke on the extent of Durant’s injury. Vogel clarified that KD started feeling tightness in his right hamstring during the 4th quarter of the Suns meeting with the Magic on New Year’s Eve.
Vogel explained while the injury should be nothing too series it is “enough to keep him out tonight.” When asked if Durant is expected to miss more games, Vogel responded with “hopefully not.”
While it is true that the Suns are playing back-to-back games, leaving speculators to believe that KD is just resting, Vogel was quick to shut down this notion, stating, “Not resting him”, “Nope.”
According to Vogel, resting players is not something that the Suns are interested in.
Replacing Durant in the starting lineup will be Chimezie Metu. Metu has started just two other games this season.
Also on the injury report for Phoenix is Eric Gordon who is questionable with right calf soreness. Vogel confirmed that Gordon will be a gametime decision.
