The Chicago Bears ended the season with a loss to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday. This was the last opportunity for Justin Fields to state his case for being the starting quarterback in 2024. Fields went 11/16 for 148 yards and couldn’t lead the offense to any touchdowns. In his postgame interview, Fields said goodbye to the fans in case it was his last game.

Chicago Bears Justin Fields Says Goodbye
Fields admits that it isn’t a foregone conclusion he is gone. However, the Bears own the no. 1 overall pick with their choice of either Caleb Williams or Drake Maye. It seems highly possible that the former first-round quarterback will be moved to a new team. Fields thanks the fans for being great which signals that he thinks he is not going to be back. If he had a big performance today, he may have been more optimistic but the numbers he put up today are not going to cut it long term.
Time To Move On
It is always hard to move on from players but the Bears need to move on from Fields. Jordan Love has more wins against NFC North opponents in one year of starting than Fields does in three years. His record is 11-29 which gives him a worse winning percentage than JaMarcus Russell. They can likely get some decent value for Fields. I would estimate they could get a day two pick and a day three pick from some team looking to upgrade at quarterback. Move on from Fields and move into the future with either Williams or Maye.
The Chicago Bears are going to have to go back to the drawing board for 2024. The good news is they do have the first overall pick which gives them a chance to fix their quarterback issue.
