The Michigan Wolverines celebrated their National Championship this afternoon, first with a parade through Ann Arbor, and then at Crisler Center in front of a sold-out crowd.
At the event, J.J. McCarthy and Jim Harbaugh — among many others — spoke in front of thousands of fans, and both were met with “One More Year” chants.
McCarthy wouldn’t give an answer on his future, saying, “No matter what decision comes of this, Michigan will forever be in my heart — and I will be proud to be known as a Michigan man.”
Shortly after the festivities, reports came out that McCarthy will be announcing his decision on his future tomorrow.
In three years as a Wolverine, McCarthy has thrown for 6,226 yards and 49 touchdowns. He is 26-1 as the starter at Michigan which is the best in program history.
is also a national champion, guiding the Wolverines to a 15-0 season en route to the Rose Bowl and National Championship Game.
There isn’t much left for him to accomplish as a Michigan quarterback, outside of a Heisman Trophy and to be named a team captain. He also could return and earn his degree from the university, which always carries some major weight after his football career is over.
But if this is it for him in college, McCarthy will be remembered forever in Ann Arbor for helping turn the corner for the football.
