The Dallas Mavericks will play the Boston Celtics in Game 2 of the NBA Finals at TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts, on Sunday. Despite their 107-89 loss in Game 1, coach Jason Kidd told reporters that there’s “no panic” with his team.
“There’s no panic with this group,” Kidd said after Saturday’s practice. “We didn’t play well in Game 1. Give credit to Boston; they did. But it’s a series. We don’t just look or capitalize on just one game. We’ve lost Game 1 a lot of times, and we’ve responded. We believe that we can respond in Game 2.”
The Mavericks lost their first game in both the Western Conference first round (against the Los Angeles Clippers) and semifinals (against the Oklahoma City Thunder). Including the loss to the Celtics, they trailed by at least 25 points in all three openers. No team has done this before in NBA history, according to ESPN Stats & Information. However, it’s also true that the Mavericks came back to knock out both the Clippers and the Thunder.
