Aston Villa and Wolves are both looking to raise funds this summer
Aston Villa are willing to sell experienced defender Diego Carlos in a bid to alleviate the threat posed by the league’s profit and sustainability (PSR) rules, according to fresh reports.
Football Insider suggests Unai Emery’s side will be forced to sell at least one experienced player by 30 June and one of the most likely to leave is understood to be Carlos. The 31-year-old defender arrived at Aston Villa in the summer of 2022 for a fee of £26m, with then-manager Steven Gerrard beating rivals West Ham and Newcastle to the Brazilian’s signature.
