Kalen DeBoer and the Alabama Crimson Tide missed the College Football Playoffs last season in his first year since taking over the reins from legendary head coach Nick Saban.
It was a rough all-around season that didn’t sit well with Alabama fans. DeBoer enters the 2025 college football season under a lot of pressure to turn things around.
While the pressure is on, the Crimson Tide head coach should also be given some patience. Following Saban’s departure, the Alabama football program saw a lot of talent leave town. DeBoer will need to rebuild the team with his own players, both via recruiting and the transfer portal.
On Thursday morning, the Crimson Tide received a big piece of recruiting news.
As shared by VolReport.com on X, the Crimson Tide have an official visit set up with key four-star wide receiver Corey Barber. The team will visit with him on June 6.
Hailing from Spain Park High School in Hoover, Alabama, the 6-foot, 180-pound wide receiver has received a ton of interest from high-profile college football programs.
According to 247 Sports, he is ranked as a four-star prospect. He is also ranked No. 46 among all wide receivers in the 2026 recruiting class, No. 273 overall in the nation, and No. 13 in the state of Alabama.
Barber is also scheduled to meet with Ole Miss on April 25, Miami on May 30, Tennessee on June 13, and Georgia on June 20.
Though there is a lot of competition to land his commitment, this is a big update for DeBoer and Alabama. They’re still in the running with a chance to keep the in-state prospect at home.
