I love this university,” Simpson said to reporters on Tuesday. “I learned a lot from the guys that played before me, like Bryce and Jalen. I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for them and the guys behind me, like Keelon and Austin. They pushed me and elevated my game to a game that they’ve never seen before.”
The Alabama Crimson Tide announced on Monday that Ty Simpson is their starting quarterback for the 2025 college football season.
Simpson takes over for Jalen Milroe, who started the last two seasons and was with the program for four years. He was picked by the Seattle Seahawks in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft in April.
Alabama believes Simpson has what it takes to be the starter after sitting behind Milroe for the last two seasons. Simpson has compiled 381 yards through the air since joining the program.
Simpson could’ve transferred at any point, but explained that he loves Tuscaloosa and his teammates.
I think it’s abnormal for sure. Not transferring, in today’s day and age. But I don’t regret it at all. I love being here. I love my teammates.
Simpson will get to show the college football world what he is made of when the Crimson Tide open their 2025 campaign on the road against the Florida State Seminoles on August 30.
It should be a fun game, and it will get underway at 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
