Safety Javion Butts of Gray (Ga.) Jones County just checked out Tennessee for the first time over the weekend, but it’s a pair of ACC teams out in front of his recruitment.
The Tar Heels and Yellow Jackets are “both right there together at the top,” Butts tells 247Sports.
The Vols remain in contention, however. The Vols offered in December.
“It was a very intense practice at Tennessee,” Butts told 247Sports. “The facilities were very nice and the coaches were cool. They take care of their players.”
Memphis, N.C. State, Texas A&M, Cincinnati, Kentucky, and Ole Miss have offered within the past couple of months.
