On Saturday night, the Phoenix Suns beat the San Antonio Spurs, 131-106, one of their most triumphant wins of the season.
That’s why it was so surprising that they lost, 104-102, to the Spurs on Monday night.
Following that game, Kevin Durant spoke with Duane Rankin and was quite honest about this team’s defeat.
“Unacceptable. Shouldn’t lose that game, especially after how we beat them last game,” Durant said, after scoring 29 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists in the loss.

Durant was second only to Devin Booker, who posted 36 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists during the game.
Yet even without Victor Wembanyama, the Spurs were able to push past the Suns and get their revenge after Saturday’s game.
The Suns have been racking up some important wins lately but remain the eighth seed in the West, far from the position they wish to be in.
The bad news for Phoenix is that things are about to get a lot harder in the final few weeks of the season.
They have the toughest remaining schedule and will face off against the Denver Nuggets, Oklahoma City Thunder, Minnesota Timberwolves, New Orleans Pelicans, and others.
Their final three games of the season are against the Los Angeles Clippers, Sacramento Kings, and Timberwolves, and all are on the road.
Can the Suns hold onto their eighth spot and earn entry to the Play-In Tournament?
Or will they make a few more mistakes like they did on Monday and fall further in the standings?
Durant and the Suns didn’t expect to face such a surprising loss against the Spurs, but perhaps they will use it as motivation to surge into the last several weeks of the regular season
