The Toronto Maple Leafs have announced that they have signed forward Jacob Quillan to a two-year, entry-level contract with an average annual value (AAV) of $875,000 beginning in 2024-25.
Quillan spent the 2023-24 campaign with the Quinnipiac Bobcats in the NCAA and just wrapped up his season last weekend following a loss to Boston College to advance to the NCAA Regional Semi-Finals. Quillan notched 17 goals and 29 assists for 46 points in 39 games, he was second in goals, first in assists and second in points among Bobcats’ skaters.
The Dartmouth, Nova Scotia product spent three seasons with Quinnipiac collecting 38 goals and 55 assists for 93 points in 116 games. During the 2022-23 campaign, Quillan scored 19 goals and 38 points in 41 games en route to winning the NCAA ECAC Championship and the NCAA Championship. Quillan was named the NCAA Frozen Four Tournament MVP and named to the NCAA All-Tournament All-Star Team. In 2021-2022, Quinnipiac captured the NCAA ECAC Championship.
Prior to his NCAA tenure, Quillan spent one season in the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) with the Penticton Vees and notched 13 goals and 14 assists for 27 points in 20 games. Quillan was drafted by the Quebec Remparts during the 2018 Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) Entry Draft.
Daily Faceoff prospect analyst Steven Ellis weighed in on Quillan as one of his Top 10 NCAA Free Agents. “After yet another high-impact season, Quillan is brimming with NHL potential,” said Ellis. “Quillan scored the title-winning goal a year ago, and it seemed like he never lacked confidence after returning for a third season. He’s likely a bottom-six forward who plays a solid transition game while being a decent penalty-killer, but you need guys like him in your lineup.”
