KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – The University of Tennessee Lady Vols basketball team teamed up with Knoxville Habitat for Humanity on Wednesday to build homes for veterans.
The team got started in the rain, but they said its great to give back to those who give them so much support during the season.
“I think it’s very important. I know Tennessee has a saying ‘Vol is a verb,’ and I think for me and my team, we are really, really big on that,” said Jillian Hollingshead. “We’ve already done a couple of service projects, and it’s just good to get back so many supporters in this community that come support us everyday.”
The home will be sold to a local veteran family at an affordable price through the Veteran Build Program.
