Vientos fouled a ball off his right ankle in the top of the fourth inning in Sunday’s series finale in Anaheim. Manager Carlos Mendoza said Vientos was scheduled to go through his regular pregame routine in St. Louis but that he was being held out of the starting lineup.
“Kind of [swelled] up after the game, but he’s better today,” Mendoza said. “He’s a player for us, but I just wanted to give him a day.”
