FOXBOROUGH — Jerod Mayo had nine players listed on his first injury report as Patriots head coach.
Sidy Sow (ankle) was sidelined for Wednesday’s practice ahead of the season opener with the Bengals, while Vederian Lowe (abdomen), Jonathan Jones (hamstring), Joshua Uche (foot) and Oshane Ximines (ankle) were all limited. If both Sow and Lowe are unable to play in Cincinnati on Sunday, it’d throw another wrench into New England’s starting offensive line, which remains unsettled in early September.
In a bit of positive news, Hunter Henry (foot) was a full participant after being sidelined for much of August. In a deviation from his predecessor Bill Belichick, Mayo said at a Monday press conference that there will be additional injury updates this season.
“As we continue through the week, and this is why I’m going to meet with (the media) on Friday,” Mayo said. “To talk a little bit more like who’s ready, who’s not ready, and I’ll try to be as transparent as I can with you guys. I’m not a guy – I mean, I’m not going to get into trying to be cryptic or anything like that. I’ll just let you guys know the truth and try to be as transparent as possible.”
On the Cincinnati side, Joe Burrow (right wrist) was a full participant, while Ja’Marr Chase (not injury related) finally returned to the practice field as a limited participant.
