The Chicago Sky rookie said that despite any rumored narratives, there is “no hate” between her and Clark, who have been competing against one another since high school.
Their on-court rivalry surged in popularity when LSU and Reese beat Iowa and Clark in the 2023 national championship, and in the Elite Eight rematch that took place the following season.
“I think it is really just the fans. The Iowa fans and now the Indiana fans… Sometimes it is very disrespectful. I think there is a lot of racism when it comes to it and I don’t believe she stands on any of that,” Reese said.
“But when it comes to death threats, like I’m talking about people come down to my address, follow me home, it’s come down to that on multiple occasions.”
Reese said individuals have also posted AI-generated photos of her naked to the internet.
“It sucks to see that and it is really hard that I have to go through that and now seeing other players even having to go through that,” Reese said.
“But like at the end of the day, it is a game that we do both love but there is no hate.”
Both Reese and Clark have set records and put up impressive numbers in their rookie seasons. Their performances have become heavily debated when it comes to the WNBA Rookie of the Year of the race.
