General manager John Lynch and the 49ers have been among the more aggressive teams at the deadline in recent years, and showed last season by acquiring former top-five back Chase Young, that San Francisco isn’t afraid to take a chance when it comes to bolstering the pass rush.
Graziano suggests the 49ers, Arizona Cardinals, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Chicago Bears as possible Reddick destinations.
“The Jets need to figure out a solution,” Graziano writes for ESPN. “They can either give Reddick a deal that gets him into the building, or they can move on from the situation and acquire an asset or two that would help them get a player who can impact the edge rush. The latter solution feels more likely at this point.”
Adding Reddick opposite Nick Bosa could form one of the more dominant pass rush duos in the sport, while upgrading the talent on an already championship-caliber defense.
Even though Reddick may be viewed as a luxury to a roster like San Francisco’s, Lynch and the 49ers’ aggressiveness and desire to capture a Super Bowl before needing to sign quarterback Brock Purdy to a top-of-market extension may lead to them aggressively pursuing Reddick in the coming weeks.
