Mike McCarthy: Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones not considering firing head coach
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones described his side’s heavy defeat to the Detroit Lions as “very concerning” and “very humbling”, but batted away questions over whether he was considering firing head coach Mike McCarthy.
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones says he is not thinking about firing head coach Mike McCarthy in the wake of Sunday’s devastating loss to the Detroit Lions.
The Cowboys were thumped 47-9 on Sunday night in what marked their fourth successive home defeat dating back to last season, leaving them third in the NFC East and 3-3 ahead of the bye week.
“I haven’t even considered that,” Jones said of potentially moving on from McCarthy. “I’m not considering that. Just so you’re clear. I’m not considering that.
“I wouldn’t be in a hypothetical in that matter – do you think I’m an idiot? Do you? OK, well I’m not going to hypothetical with you about when I’d consider a coaching change in light of the timing we’re sitting here with. I’m not. At all.”
