Josh Williams takes over for LSU as the Tigers snap losing streak against Vanderbilt

The LSU Football team finally got off of the mat this weekend beating Vanderbilt with ease to snap a three game losing streak. This week was a long week for the team filled with distractions as talks around Brian Kelly heated up, the Tigers lost Bryce Underwood to Michigan, and the news leaked that a players only meeting was called.

One of the players that called the Players Only meeting was veteran running back Josh Williams who sports the number 18 in part because of his leadership. The best way to lead a team is by your play on the field and that is exactly what Josh Williams did on Saturday Night. Williams ran the ball 14 times for 90 yards and 2 touchdowns adding 61 yards on 4 catches. His two touchdowns were for more than 20 yards breaking tackles making a great impact.

Since Brian Kelly has taken a bigger role in the offense, LSU’s run game has been completely transformed. The Tigers ran the ball 30 times for 141 yards and 2 touchdowns picking up 4.7 yards per carry. When LSU needed to ice the game the Tigers offense was able to lean on the run game to put this one away.

Garrett Nussmeier played a clean game which was great to see even as the offense leaned on the rushing attack. Nussmeier completed 28 of 37 attempts for 332 yards and a touchdown without turning the ball over. Kyren Lacy was his go to guy once again catching six passes for 85 yards and a touchdown.

The defense has some shaky moments but, as a whole the Tigers played a great defensive game. Diego Pavia passed for just 186 yards and a score while they held him to just 43 yards rushing on 6 attempts.
