Florida State Seminoles football, after suffering through a 2-10 season, saw plenty of hits to its recruiting class as multiple commitments flipped to other programs.
While the damage wasn’t fully made up (including a dagger of a flip in five-star offensive lineman Solomon Thomas to LSU), the Seminoles managed to flip four blue-chips on Wednesday — blue-chip wide receiver Jayvan Boggs (from UCF), four-star running back Ousmane Kromah (from Georgia) and four-star defensive back Shamar Arnoux (from Auburn) and former UF commit Tae’shaun Gelsey, who committed following the official announcement of the first crop of signees.
The Seminoles also managed to hold off efforts to flip its other blue-chip commits, amongst them defensive tackle Kevin Wynn. Florida State added 18 total plays on Wednesday — 11 four-star recruits, five three-star recruits and two JUCO transfers.
“I wanted the playmakers. I wanted guys that there’s not as many projections in this year’s class,” head coach Mike Norvell said during a press conference Wednesday evening. “These are guys that I think are very well established in what they’ve done. They are guys that I do think will come in and have opportunities to grow and develop throughout their journey, but these are guys that I think are definitely a special group of proven playmakers.
“Definitely excited about what they’ll be able to do early in their careers, whether it’s a junior college player, whether it’s a freshman that’s coming in. I think these guys are definitely an exciting group to be able to watch with great size, great ability, and I think they’ll be dynamic players within our program.”
