As No. 2 Georgia prepares to take on No. 7 Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl, which is a College Football Playoff quarterfinal, head coach Kirby Smartdescribed what is “tough” for college football teams at this time of year.
The Bulldogs (11-2) haven’t taken the field since beating Texas in the SECChampionship Game on Dec. 7. That will change on New Year’s Day when Smart and Co. meet Marcus Freeman’s Irish (12-1) for a chance at moving on in the College Football Playoff.

When speaking to the media about the upcoming game on Monday, Smart called the month of December “tough” before referring to the current college football calendar as not the best thing for the game
It’s becoming the new norm. You know, December is absolutely just tough,” he said. “I don’t know a good way of saying it. I wouldn’t say it’s unbearable. I wouldn’t say that it’s unfair. There’s a lot of words you can use for it. It’s just – it’s not probably the best thing for the college football game.”
