Former Alabama coach turned ESPN analyst Nick Saban clearly has a bone to pick with Ohio State football fans.
Ahead of last week’s College Football Playofffirst-round matchup vs. Tennessee, Saban called out Buckeyes‘ fans for not showing enough support for coach Ryan Day during the team’s playoff run. On Friday, joining The Pat McAfee Show on ESPN, Saban doubled down on OSU fans’ obsession with Michigan and lack of support for Day.
These Ohio State fans, they have a psychotic obsession with Michigan,” Saban said Friday. “They need to get therapy or something to go get it fixed because they have a chance to win the national championship. And here you are, nobody is excited about their opportunity to play because of a loss to Michigan.”
Ohio State lost 13-10 to Michigan in the regular-season finale on Nov. 30, which knocked them out of the Big Ten Conference championship game and ensured the Buckeyes would have to play a first-round game. On Dec. 21, OSU defeated Tennessee 42-17 in a dominant performance.
Day is 1-4 in his career against the Wolverines, including each of the last four matchups, which has drawn the ire of Buckeyes fans. His record includes a loss this year, which was the biggest upset in the history of “The Game.”
