The Georgia Bulldogs have made it back-to-back offseason by acquiring a skill player from the Miami Hurricanes in the transfer portal, as multiple outlets have confirmed that defensive back Jaden Harris will return to his home state of Georgia to play with the Bulldogs. With Colbie Young coming over last season and playing a key role in Georgia’s offense before being suspended for the remainder of the season, Georgia will hope things got differently with Harris coming over.
Harris joins a transfer portal class for the Bulldogs that features USC transfers Zion and Zachariah Branch as well as UAB transfer Adrian Maddox. While Harris was a starter for the 10-3 Hurricanes this season and helps fill in for the departure of Malaki Starks, Miami fans are questioning the SEC powerhouse for acquiring the safety who at times was a liability in the secondary.
Taking to social media, Hurricane fans have expressed their opinions on the transfer move by Georgia. Here are some of the responses:
One confused Miami fan stated, “Did Kirby watch tape this year? Couldn’t hit an open field tackle for his life.”
Another puzzled fan replied, “They just signing anybody lol.”
On the flip side, a Georgia fan shared his thoughts saying, “Kirby can coach TF outta DB’s. He’ll get him coached up. Bring in athlete first n coach’em up.”
As can be seen based on the reactions, fans are questioning why Georgia decided to go after a Miami defensive back who was a part of a core that allowed on average 31.4 points per game over the last five games of the season. Harris’ production did dip through the course of the regular season, as he finished the season playing and starting all 13 games with 40 total tackles, 1.5 sacks, one interception, and two passes defended.
