Oklahoma QB Dillon Gabriel Transfers to Texas Longhorns in Blockbuster Move

In a stunning twist, Oklahoma Sooners quarterback Dillon Gabriel has announced his transfer to their biggest rival, the Texas Longhorns. The move has left the college football world in disbelief and has reignited the already-intense rivalry between the two programs.

Gabriel, who threw for over 3,500 yards and 30 touchdowns last season, was widely regarded as the heart of the Sooners’ offense. His decision to leave Norman for Austin comes as a major blow to Oklahoma, who will now be forced to replace their star signal-caller.

Reports suggest Gabriel’s decision was influenced by Texas’ aggressive NIL offer, rumored to be worth over $5 million. Additionally, the opportunity to work with Texas’ top-tier receiving corps and newly-hired offensive coordinator Kellen Moore reportedly played a key role in his decision.

Sooners fans have reacted with outrage, accusing Gabriel of betrayal. Social media has been flooded with comments from both fanbases, with some Texas supporters gleefully welcoming their new quarterback while Oklahoma fans vent their frustration.

In a statement, Gabriel said, “This was a difficult decision, but I feel it’s the right move for my future. I’m grateful for my time at Oklahoma and the incredible support I received there. I’m excited to start a new chapter at Texas and contribute to their success.”

The Red River Showdown is already one of college football’s most heated rivalries, but Gabriel’s transfer has taken it to another level. The Longhorns are now viewed as serious contenders for the upcoming season, while Oklahoma will face significant pressure to prove they can compete without their former star.
