Will the Kentucky Wildcats be getting new alternate jerseys for the men’s basketball team this season? It sounds like a possibility.
During his Monday radio show, Pope revealed that he’s been looking at alternate jersey options that Kentucky could debut at some point this season.
Could one of these be the classic denim jerseys that debuted in 1996?
Earlier this month, Pope discussed the possibility of the Wildcats bringing back its denim jerseys.
“I’m not really allowed to say this, so it’s just between the two of us: I’m working on it,” Pope said. “It’s amazing the red tape that we have to go through to make this happen, but we’re pretty passionate about trying to make that happen. We’ll see what we come up with. It’s definitely on my agenda of things to get accomplished.”
Those denim uniforms first debuted in February of 1996 when Kentucky hosted the Arkansas Razorbacks. Kentucky is set to host Arkansas on February 1st this year in what will mark John Calipari’s return to Rupp Arena for the first time since leaving Lexington this offseason to become the Hogs’ new head coach.
The BBN will be anxiously waiting to see what these new jerseys are and when they’ll be used.
