Ben Boulware is stepping into a bigger role on Clemson’s coaching staff, and he’s already embracing the challenge with passion and energy. Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney recently announced that Boulware will be taking on expanded duties, including recruiting responsibilities, as he enters his second year with the Tigers.
The former Clemson linebacker, known for his grit and leadership on the field, shared a heartfelt message on social media reflecting on his journey and excitement for the future.
“I look back on my life so far, and man, it’s been a JOURNEY,” Boulware wrote. He recounted his experiences, from running on the field as a child after games to his days as a high school freshman searching for direction, to now, at age 30, stepping into what he calls “the opportunity of a lifetime.”
oulware’s post also highlighted his gratitude for the people who’ve shaped him, his faith, and his determination to continue growing. “My story isn’t finished. I know I have a lot more life ahead of me. If I continue to love the Lord, love my wife and kids, and control the input each day, then it should be a good life. The best is yet to come.”
He also addressed his players directly, promising growth through the challenges ahead. “Wade, Sammy, Dee, Kobe, Jamal, Jeremiah, CJ, Drew, Logan, Fletcher, Griffin, Roberto, Billy & William, we’re about to go into the deep dark abyss, boys. When you come up for air, you’ll be a grown-ass man on the other side, I promise.”
Boulware, who joined Clemson last season as an assistant linebackers coach, brings a wealth of experience and passion to his new role. A two-year starter and standout during Clemson’s 2016 national championship run, he cemented his legacy with 352 tackles, 26 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks, and five interceptions across his four-year career. His leadership on and off the field made him a critical piece of the Tigers’ success.
Now, Boulware is channeling that same intensity and determination into coaching and mentoring the next generation of Tigers, with a clear message: the journey may be tough, but the rewards will be worth it.
