    Jimmy Howard is a former American professional ice hockey goaltender who played his entire 14-year National Hockey League (NHL) career with the Detroit Red Wings.

    _Early Life and Amateur Career_

    James Russell Howard III was born on March 26, 1984, in Syracuse, New York. He grew up in Ogdensburg, New York, and began playing hockey at a young age. Howard played junior hockey for the USA Hockey National Team Development Program and later for the University of Maine Black Bears.

    _Professional Career_

    The Detroit Red Wings selected Howard in the second round (64th overall) of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. He made his professional debut with the Grand Rapids Griffins, the Red Wings’ American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, in 2005.

    Howard made his NHL debut with the Red Wings on November 28, 2005, and quickly established himself as a reliable backup goaltender. He became the team’s starting goaltender in 2009 and went on to play 10 seasons in that role.

    During his time with the Red Wings, Howard achieved several milestones and accolades, including:

    – 2x NHL All-Star Game selection (2012, 2015)
    – NHL Rookie of the Month (December 2009)

    Since his retirement, Howard has remained involved in the hockey world. He has worked as a hockey analyst for Bally Sports Detroit and has been involved in various charitable initiatives, including supporting organizations that benefit children’s health and education.
