Miami Dolphins predicted to trade former first round $110 million star to Green Bay Packers

The Miami Dolphins must find a way to win in 2025 and get back to the playoffs.

After paying QB Tua Tagovailoa to a massive extension before the start of the 2024 campaign, the Dolphins fell short of expectations after making the playoffs the previous two seasons with Mike McDaniel as their head coach.

Now, McDaniel is entering the 2025 offseason with a lot more pressure to win in the competitive AFC East.

For the last several years, the Buffalo Bills have been the class of the division, winning the AFC East the last five-straight seasons.

Dolphins GM Chris Grier has given McDaniel weapons on both side of the ball, from the wide receiver corps of Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle to defensive superstars like Jalen Ramsey, Jevon Holland, Chop Robinson and Calais Campbell.

Yet still, the Dolphins continue to have a reputation for being one of the softer teams in the NFL. When Tagovailoa is healthy — which is always a coin flip due to his injury history and repeated concussions — McDaniel’s offense operates like a well-oiled machine and is one of the toughest units in the league to slow down.

But despite knowing how fragile their starting QB is, the Dolphins opted to go into 2024 without a capable backup signal caller to fill in for Tagovailoa if he got hurt. So when he went down for four games with a concussion that appeared to have his career in jeopardy, the 2024 Miami Dolphins sputtered, losing all four games without him and plummeting to the worst offensive team in the NFL.

The Dolphins were still able to get production out of their defense, finishing the year with the No. 4 unit in the NFL, allowing 314 yards per game.

While they have a few key players hitting free agency — most notably safety Jevon Holland — the Dolphins should return the bulk of their talent on defense in 2025.

Given the success of the pass rush, it’s no surprise Miami is predicted to trade former first round draft pick Bradley Chubb, who sat out the 2024 season with an injury,

In 2022, the Miami Dolphins acquired Chubb in a trade with the Broncos and gave him a massive contract extension of $110 million. He shined in 2023 with 72 tackles, 11 sacks, 6 forced fumbles and 2 fumble recoveries, but tore his ACL late in the season and was out the entire 2024 campaign.
