Former Florida Gators star tight end Kyle Pitts simply has not lived up to the hype that surrounded him when he entered the NFL back in the 2021 draft. He hasn’t been horrible, but he certainly hasn’t become the star that the Atlanta Falcons thought they would be getting.
Throughout his first four years at the professional level, Pitts has played in 61 total games, catching 196 passes for 2,651 yards and 10 touchdowns.
Granted, he has been able to make an impact, but he hasn’t become a top-tier tight end. At just 24 years old, there is still time for him to figure things out and become that level of player.
Heading into the NFL offseason, Pitts could be a potential trade candidate.
Andrew Buller-Russ of SportsNaut has predicted that the Falcons will end up trading Kyle Pitts to the Indianapolis Colts this offseason. It’s just an idea at this point in time, but it’s something to montor as he could very well become available for the right price.
Every Florida fan would love to see Pitts turn his professional career around. He was a fan favorite during his time with the Gators and the potential that he possessed was through the roof.
During the three years that he played at Florida, including two as a huge part of the offense, Pitts caught 100 passes for 1,492 yards and 18 touchdowns.
His final year with the Gators saw him have a career-best season. In the 2020 campaign, Pitts racked up 43 catches for 770 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Making a move to the Colts would be a very intriguing fit for Pitts. Indianapolis has Anthony Richardson current at quarterback, although they’re expected to bring in more competition at the position. Pitts could come in and be an elite security blanket for a young quarterback and see a much better fit than he has had in Atlanta.
Also, Pitts will be playing for a new contract. The 2025 season is the last year on his current deal.
All of that being said, it is far from a guarantee that the Falcons will trade Pitts. This is just a prediction for the former Gators star, but it does bring up the reality that he could be a moveable piece during the NFL offseason.
