Former Georgia Bulldogs running back Nick Chubb is scheduled to become an NFL free agentin March. Chubb, who plays for the Cleveland Browns, had a statistically down year in 2024.
Chubb’s season comes with a big asterisk. He was recovering from a severe leg injury and played in just eight games. Chubb posted 332 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns on 102 carries in 2024. Chubb’s 2024 season was cut short after he suffered a broken foot in Cleveland’s Dec. 15 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Chubb has played all seven years of his NFL career with the Browns, so it is hard to envision him playing anywhere else. Chubb is a loyal player, but several other NFL teams are interested in Chubb including the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Chubb could look to test the free agent market for the first time in his NFL career with the Browns in rebuilding mode. The Browns are likely to trade star defensive end Myles Garrett this offseason.
We’d be surprised if Chubb does anything outside of return to the Browns.
“What happened to Nick (Chubb) last year was very unfortunate. He had no desire to be anywhere besides Cleveland,” said Cleveland Browns general manager Andrew Berry in 2024. “We had no desire for that to be the last snap that he would take in a Cleveland Browns jersey. And just, quite honestly, he’s the heartbeat and pulse of our team.”
