The Georgia football team held the second of 15 spring practices Thursday afternoon with the temperature of 77 degrees under partly cloudy skies.
Truth be told, the media viewing period of about 13 minutes didn’t offer much to glean on because there wasn’t all that much competition going on at that time.
“Try to get in playing shape,” wide receivers coach James Coley shouted to his guys.
Later, coach Kirby Smart said on his ever-present mic: “Get in shape, please backs!”
Here’s some observations and later the jersey numbers for newcomers.
- The first player that really jumped out to me was the guy in the No. 7 jersey with the wide receivers.
- Colbie Young is cleared after his plea deal and his perhaps underlisted 6-foot-3 and 215-pounds will be a welcome target for Gunner Stockton.
- The first quarterback I saw throw a ball was Hezekiah Millender, listed at 6-foot-3 and 205 pounds. The freshman played last season at Clarke Central by way of Arizona.
-
- Nitro Tuggle scooted by in an early drill. The sophomore wide receiver has a chance to have a bigger role in 2025.
- Here’s the order I saw in a defensive line drill: Joseph Jonah-Ajoyne and Jordan Hill followed by Justin Greene and Nnamdi Ogboko and then the third group included Nasir Johnson and freshman Elijah Griffin.
-
- The cornerbacks working with position coach Donte Williams: Daylen Everette and Daniel Harris, followed by sophomores Ellis Robinson and Demello Jones and then true freshman Domick Kelly and Ondre Evans. True freshman Jontae Gilbert was also with the corners.
- The offensive line was broken up into groups. The offensive tackles worked in threes with Earnest Greene, Bo Hughley and Jahzare Jackson followed by Nyier Daniels, walk-on Nick Reeves and Jamal Meriweather.
