Wisconsin Badgers’ new quarterback, Billy Edwards Jr., has made a strong impression on head coach Luke Fickell during his initial practices with the team. Edwards, a transfer from Maryland, brings valuable experience to Wisconsin’s offense, having thrown for 2,881 yards, 15 touchdowns, and nine interceptions during the 2024 season.
Coach Fickell has praised Edwards’ leadership qualities and passion for the game, stating, “Obviously we’re still seeing a lot more about him as a player. But everything from the get-go as a leader, as a guy that understands the maturity of what it takes and what it looks like to be a pro, he’s been an incredible example since he’s walked in here.”
Offensive coordinator Jeff Grimes also commended Edwards’ toughness and resilience, noting his ability to withstand pressure and maintain performance under challenging conditions.
During spring practices, Edwards has demonstrated consistent accuracy and touch, particularly on deep passes. His mobility has been evident as well, with effective scrambling and extending plays.
As the Badgers continue their preparations for the upcoming season, Edwards’ integration into the team and his on-field performance will be closely monitored by both the coaching staff and fans.
